Ep 73. How Can We Build Connections With Students from Challenging Communities? Ft. Lucy Black
Happy New Year everyone!
We are actually going to kick off 2025 with one last episode before bringing the season to a close! I'm actually getting married in March, so I plan on focusing on planning this wedding and getting to the March Break with work! So this will be the last episode for a while.
On todays final episode, we talk about how we can build strong connections with students in for challenging communities. So today we have Lucy Black a former high school business and English teacher and retired high school principal of 8 years. She is also a published author called Class Lessons: Stories of Vulnerable Youth, which you can get Chapters, Indigo, Amazon, and Independent book stores and Demeter Press. We talk about:
- What are the significant challenges teachers face in these schools?
- What are some practical strategies teachers can use to build connections with students?
- How can teachers avoid burnout in these school environments?
